West Deeping Drainage Action Group
In February 2021, the West Deeping Action Group was set up to work with the Parish Council to help us deal with the waste water management issues in the village. For more information, plesae contact Andy Hunter on 01778 702990 or Alison Ireland on 01778 343815.
Historical Actions
In February 2020, a representative from Anglian Water attended the Parish Council meeting at which residents raised concerns and questions about the ongoing sewage system issues.
The main points which AW agreed to address were:
- To confirm whether a bigger pump would be beneficial in helping to solve the problem.
- To investigate installing an additional pipe(s) to allow our system to be bypassed so that sewage from Barholm and Tallington Lakes goes directly to Market Deeping.
- To provide details of current and historic flow levels so that we know the extent to which continued development at Tallington Lakes has added to our current problems.
- To update us on the outcome of discussions and meetings with directors about this issue and to keep us regularly informed.
The points raised, the responses from AW given during the meeting and parish council follow-up email correspondence are summarised here. We would like to draw your attention to the most recent replies in this correspondence dated 18/11/2020 to 04/12/2020 beginning on page 6. Anglian Water has agreed to attend our next parish council meeting on 3 February 2021.
In addition, we have raised the issue of water management and the sewage system problems with our MP, Sir John Hayes. The correspondence has been discussed at parish council meetings in May, August and November as summarised in the minutes: see minutes of previous meetings. Sir John wrote to us in March 2020 to advise that he had enquired on our behalf to the Chief Executives of Anglian Water, Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) and South Kesteven District Council (SKDC).
